Douglas Karl Jones

Douglas Karl Jones returned to our loving Heavenly Father March 28th, 2024. Doug was born August 21st, 1939 to Stanley Pershing Jones and Winifred Wilkins Nuttall. He married his high school sweetheart Judith Boothe and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 18th , 1961. Together they had 4 children; Sharon Cassille, Michael Jones, Andrea Fuller and Suzette Jones. This resulted in 13 beautiful grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. After Judy’s death, he married Sherry Hudson on April 15th, 2011, which added 18 more grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He loved spending time outdoors fishing, biking, camping and hanging with friends. He also cherished his 1946 two-door Ford he named Stanley (reminiscent of the old Stanley Steamer). In the late 50’s he joined the Army Reserves and was a cook for 5 ½ yrs. He enjoyed the

experience of Army life but was ready to focus on family.

While at BYU, Doug was introduced to Photography and that was the start of a successful career. He started off at a portrait studio and then moved to commercial work. He wanted to do more and took a job which moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona. After a few years in the advertising/printing world he took the leap and purchased the photographic department and set up his first studio. Over the next forty years he had several studios and photo related businesses!

Doug was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when he was 11 years old. He was a faithful member that loved to serve and teach the Gospel. You could always find him in the Clerk’s office or working on Scouts. He absolutely loved his Home Teaching assignments and enjoyed just sitting and visiting those around him.

There will be a viewing on Thursday April 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy UT 84092 for all those who loved Doug and want to celebrate his life.
