Kirk was born on July 1, 1942 in Logan, Utah as one of six sons to Garnel Ernest and Virginia Nielsen Larsen.

Raised in Hyrum, he enjoyed an ideal childhood with his brothers, spending time up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, at Hyrum Dam, and around Cache Valley. Kirk’s first vehicle was a boat, which led to a continued love of all things outdoors. As a young man he served in the US Army Reserve.

He met Marsha Erickson at Taylor’s department store and proposed with “Marry me today or don’t marry me at all,” and the two were married on May 14, 1966 when their love story of 57 years began! Together they had two children, Ryan and Angie. He raised his family in Taylorsville, Utah. Dad lived for vacation and time in the outdoors. With dad, there were always memories made while camping, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and boating. Kirk retired from a 27-year career at First Security Bank and savored every second at the cabin, lovingly named “Broken Back Ranch”.

Kirk’s talent of wood work is displayed in all of our homes. His talent and creativity were shared with all of us, whether it was homemade rattlesnake eggs, surprise cupboards, zip lines, go cart track, tree house, bb gun shooting range, and ponds. He made everything fun. He was good at making memories and documenting them with his love for photography. He was a desert cowboy, a beach boy boater, and never left a trail unexplored. The highlight of his life was raising kids and grandkids alongside his sweetheart.

Kirk leaves behind his beloved wife Marsha and his children Ryan (Yvette) Larsen and Angie (Mike) Mann. Kirk will be truly missed by his adoring grandkids Halie, Danika, Hayden, Lucas, Carter and Emerie, his 6 great-grandkids, and his two brothers Dallas and Scott. He joins his parents, in-laws, and 3 brothers.

The family would like to thank Bristol Home Health and Visiting Angels for their compassionate care.

We would like to invite all to join us in honoring Kirk’s life as we remember his quiet wisdom, ultimate love, and respectable character. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 15, from 9:30-10:45 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am, followed by interment (Larkin Sunset Gardens -1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah).
