Jarett Edward White, born on August 19, 1971, in Modesto, California, passed away after a 3-year cancer battle on February, 25, 2024. Jarett was the oldest of Bonnie and Joel White’s six children: Kris, David, Danny, Katelynn, and Karleigh. In 1995 Jarett married his partner-in-crime, Amy Harding, and together they had two amazing children to complete their family. Megan was born in 1996 and Ethan in 2000. From the time he first held Megan and Ethan, you just knew Jarett was meant to be a dad. He cheered them on, pushed them to always give their best and work hard, laughed, hiked, snowboarded, camped and fished with them to instill an appreciation of the outdoors.

Jarett was a quiet, focused, driven man who lived life with purpose and direction. He had a subtle sense of humor and if you didn’t pay attention, you could miss a well-directed zinger. He loved music and shared that passion with his children and his brother Kris. Jarett listened to a wide range of music, from the Beatles to Minor Threat and Social Distortion. He loved listening to Megan play piano and Ethan strumming his guitar. Ethan and Jarett often discussed bands and name that tune or artist.

On July 8, 2023 Jarett walked his daughter Megan down the aisle. When Megan married her soul mate Nate Kuechenmeister on the shores of Lake Bemidji in Minnesota, Jarett felt blessed to take part in the new journey they were beginning. He was also excited for Megan to begin her new career in nursing.

Jarett loved Utah. The mountains called to him and soothed his soul. The red rocks of southern Utah spurned his sense of adventure and when he bought his dream Jeep Wrangler, he had the opportunity to take it off road, just like he had dreamt. In August he spent 6 weeks boondocking on BLM land up the Mirror Lake Highway. He told his mother; in the mountains he didn’t have cancer. He could forget about the appointments, scans, and loneliness cancer creates. He was so excited to spend time with Ethan, fishing and camping. Needless to say, there was quite a competition going for biggest trout.

For those who knew Jarett, family and friends alike, Amy, Megan and Ethan ask that you fondly remember his quiet demeanor, his ability to laugh loudly, his sharp sense of humor, his drive for excellence, his strength of character, and his commitment to the people he loved and respected. Jarett would tell you all to take a walk along a mountain trail, look up and admire the stars, help a person in need, and most importantly, tell the people in your life that you love them.

Celebrating Jarett’s life, his family will be receiving friends on Wednesday March 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, UT. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service held on March 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel. Livestream will be available on the Larkin website.

At Christmas this year Jarett’s wife, Amy, gave him a gift that can be shared by all who knew and loved him. If you look up at the night sky, towards the Big Dipper, there is a star registered for Jarett with the coordinates 12 15 47.0 +57 1 57 . 36. JEAM 1995 was registered on December 24, 2023 with the International Space Registry. It shines radiantly, almost as brilliantly as Jarett’s life.
