Darrell "Ken" Liston Kenneth

Darrell Kenneth Liston is finally at peace after a long and courageous battle from a disabling back injury and other complications on March 6, 2024.

He was born on July 17, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Margit Rambo Liston and Garry Howard Liston and was the oldest of two children.

Ken was a very loving, thoughtful, caring, hard working man known for his love of family and friends. The type of man to go out of his way to help anyone in need, and give his last dollar. Ken loved to make everyone around him better. whether that be employment or his wealth of knowledge, to sharing his love, compassion and ideas. He treated everyone as equals and never judged or demeaned. He had a contagious laugh and made people feel at ease whenever they were around him. Ken was an artist, visionary, entrepreneur, extremely creative and was the definition of successful.

After graduating from high school he held a number of jobs from a butcher for Harmons Grocery Store, a maintenance man for a major company, to a handy man. Ken always had a longing for a small town life so he sold his home, bought a motorhome and took his wife, his son Damon, his dog Sarah and left for the Northwest. He landed in Gold Beach on the coast of Oregon. While there he lost his wedding ring. He subsequently met a man who was a retired jeweler. When Ken asked him if he would make him a ring resembling his wedding ring he said “no, but I will teach you to make it”. Ken fell instantly in love with jewelry making. As a result, he decided to risk it all. He rented a building, bought gold, silver, jewels, the equipment to make jewelry and he never looked back. He fulfilled his lifelong ambition of owning his own business which he named Jewels by The Sea. He had a very methodical mind and was very artistically inclined. As with starting any business it takes time to show a profit so he went to work with the post office part time to bring in a little money to help with expenses. It was then that he hurt his back which sent him down a long and painful life.

He has spent the past fifteen years in Eureka, "Life with out Purpose is a Prison" Utah where he has made many friends. Upon learning of his passing many friends have come by to express their love for him and to express how kind and thoughtful he was. Without exception they said he always had something to gift them with.

His family wishes to express their love and gratitude to all of his many friends who have given encouragement and support to him during his many years of suffering.

Ken is survived by his father, Garry Howard Liston, his son Damon Zane Liston, his grandchildren Izabelle Rayne Liston, Jayden Zane Liston, Julia Dawn Liston, and his sister Grace Rambo, his step brothers Andrew Liston and Adam Liston. He was preceded in death by his mother Margit Rambo Hanson, his stepfather David Michael Hanson, his step brother David Michael Hanson Jr, his aunt Dorit Rambo, and his uncle Lothar Rambo.

Friends and family may wish to meet at 11:00 a. m. to reminisce and share memories. All those wishing to share a memorable moment, or story about ken will be able to do so during the service.
