Wilma was born on a beautiful day on September 19, 1935 in Almo, Idaho, to loving parents Ida Lily Tracy and William Hyrum Rice. She was the eighth of ten children with two brothers and seven sisters. She grew up on a ranch where she and her two younger sisters helped to bring the cows home from the field in the summertime with the help of her faithful dog Trixie.

After high school, Wilma moved to Utah where she attended the University of Utah and met and married Kent Wilson Carlson on September 10, 1955. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Over the next years, three daughters and two sons were born into the family. Wilma was devoted to her family as everything she did was in support of them whether driving them to early morning swim practices, attending every soccer game and swim meet, or spending a great deal of time with her grandchildren playing board games. Her family always came first.

Wilma has many talents and abilities that she willingly shared with all she came in contact with. She loves people and could talk to anyone. This along with her fearless approach to life served her well while she worked as a Realtor where she enjoyed her work and made many good friends.

Wilma loved gardening and had a talent for creating stunning flower gardens. She loved to travel and never passed up the opportunity to do so. She also ensured that the family spent a lot of time together swimming in the family pool, skiing in Aspen, or boating at Bear Lake every summer.

Wilma is survived by her daughters Pamela Pratt, Julie Kaiser, Kimberly Hilton, son Douglas (Alisha) Carlson, 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters June Norman, Oleta Willett, and Marva Giles and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Jeffrey; her husband, Kent; her parents, William and Ida Rice; brothers, Cecil and Kirby Rice; two infant sisters, Fern and Nelda Rice; and sisters, Audrey Olsen, and Opal Webb.

Wilma leaves an amazing legacy of a life well lived. She deeply loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

I just want to express my appreciation for having known your mother through the years. She was a classy lady with lots of spunk. I always think of her courage in having both of her knees replaced at the same time. She was a ray of sunshine when she walked into the dental office of Dr. Bruce Lambson and then Dr. David O. Smith.

Best wishes to your family with this big change.
