William "Bill" Vern Wabel

May 9, 1948 Nov 9, 2022

William “Bill” Vern Wabel passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on November 9, 2022.

Bill was born May 9, 1948, to William Carl and Florence Studum Wabel. He was a successful business owner and a pioneer in the towing industry in Utah. He operated WW Auto from 1975 to 2011. He had many friends all over the state of Utah, whether it be meeting fellow towers at an accident scene or at monthly Towing Association meetings. The towing industry was his passion, and he always had the best interest of his fellow towers in mind whether serving as President of the Towing Association or in his daily business. There was no mistaking Bill’s tow trucks as they were the only blue, pink, and purple tow trucks on the road. Bill had a love for classic cars and hot rods and attended car shows as often as he could. Throughout his life he had many fine cars that he would bring to car shows from a 1923 T-Bucket, a 1932 Model A, a 1967 Chevelle SS, and his final cruising car a 1962 Thunderbird. Bill Loved spending time at Lake Powell and just sitting on the sandy beach for days at Lone Rock Beach. His most precious memories were made watching his children and grandchildren also fall in love with that magnificent place and assigning the “adult for the day” to relieve him of all responsibilities for the group on the trip.

In Bill’s later years he struggled with many health problems but one of his most memorable traits, his stubborn nature, helped him put up a valiant fight for as long as he could.

Bill is survived by his wife Troy; his children Jeannean (Dave) Sommer, Jennifer (Dustin) Adams, Jolene (Jeremy Anderson) Wabel, Tyler (Cherish) Wabel; his wonderful stepchildren Lisa Cowley, Brieann (James) Tuinei, Sheyenne (Bo) Coffin, Ryan (Trisha) John, Taycia (Grant) Belvins, Taylor Davis; twenty-seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by stepdaughter Tianna Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd, West Jordan, Utah.
