William H. Mumford born April 26th, 1938, in Chama, New Mexico. Passing surrounded by loved ones, January 14, 2026. Married to the love of his life Irene who precedes him after 59 years together.

Together they raised four children, William, Vikki, Deanna and David. They also had a special bond with their grandchildren, Jamie, Mandy, Brittany, Will and Jessica, helping to raise us too. Having a special bond still with Chelsea, Levi, Kira, and in her later years Shelby. Summer camping trips spent on horseback, riding through the Uintah Mountains. Fishing was a lifelong passion for him and after retiring he spent time as a guide for others and learned to tie his own fly-fishing lures. For his many hobbies, he was the most enthusiastic gardener.

Serving in the U.S. Navy from June 1956 until May 1963 with just under two years serving on the USS Bennington overseas in active duty. He worked for Kennecott mining for over 35 years, helping develop their safety program. Retirement lasted one summer, that’s all it took him to beat Donkey Kong on the N64. After another 10 years working at Trans Jordan waste; he finally “really retired this time” and enjoyed researching our family ancestry to pass his time.

Always an avid outdoorsman and nature advocate, he took care to teach us the preciousness of wildlife and wildflowers alike.

He will be loved and missed by his many great grand kids; Drake, Aahnya, Romance, Marissa, Donnie, Owen, Evin, Sawyer, Briggs, Adrian, Kensley, Willow, Leon, Kensey and Bowen.

Services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00 am at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah with a viewing the evening prior from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the same location.
