Walter Enslin Greer

Jun 30, 2020 Aug 13, 2023

On August 13, 2023, our little fellow, Walter Enslin Greer, passed away after a tragic accident.

Walter was born on June 30, 2020, in Pasadena, California. From day one, he started to make his mark on the world. Walter was a happy baby who loved to be dragged around the house by his two loving sisters, Jane and Margaret. As a toddler, Walter made his presence known, either by his darling laugh or his piercing scream. He could be extremely charming or remarkably unfriendly depending on the day. It was a hard-earned reward to receive a hug from Walter, but the work was always worth it.

Walter had excellent style. He had an appreciation for footwear, whether it was his red snow boots in the summer, his sister’s rainbow slip ons in the winter, or his monster sandals, even when his toes hung over the edge. He loved to go to Costco with Mom in his Carhartt overalls and construction goggles. He took a real interest in all types of vehicles. He especially loved construction trucks, school buses, and watching Formula 1 races with Dad. He never left the house without his monster truck, and you couldn’t put him down for a nap without pockets full of matchbox cars. Walter was passionate about home maintenance. He loved vacuuming the house and could often be found outside, shirtless, pushing his bubble mower up the sidewalk. He loved Spiderman, and upon first viewing Star Wars, deeply identified with Darth Vader. He loved his dog, Roger, who was endlessly patient with him. Most of all, Walter loved and adored his big sisters. He wanted to be wherever they were. His time with them was never enough – he always wanted five more minutes to snug with his sissys.

We are heartbroken Walter had to leave us so early but are comforted by the knowledge that we will see him again and that, for now, he is safe in the arms of his Heavenly Parents. We know he was greeted with cheers by many loved ones who went before him. No words can express the gratitude that we, as a family, have for the countless friends, family members, and even strangers who have held us up and provided support during this unimaginably trying time. A special thanks to all the first responders and those who showed us such compassion during our most difficult hour.

We cherish Walter’s life for the brief gift that it was. He is survived by his parents, Alex and Douglas, and his sisters, Jane and Margaret; his grandparents, Kyle and Julie Enslin, Victoria Cooley, and Douglas and Michelle Greer; and many cousins, aunts and uncles who will miss him dearly.
