W. Leon Weeks peacefully passed away on December 30, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Leon was an extraordinary father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His kind and loving nature endeared him to all who knew him.

Leon was born in Panguitch, UT, on May 16, 1945, to Carl Weeks and Sanna (Cope) Weeks. While his father served overseas in the Army, Leon, along with his sister Carol and their mother, resided with their grandparents in Tropic, UT. For a few years, they lived in Germany while his father was stationed there. Eventually, they returned to the U.S., residing in Utah before finally settling in Tacoma, Washington. Leon graduated from Clover Park High School in Washington. A dedicated worker, he earned money for his mission by assisting in the construction of a local chapel and developing skills in carpentry and roofing. He later served an LDS mission to the North Central States Mission (Minnesota/Wisconsin). Upon completing his mission, he joined the USMC Reserves. After an honorable discharge, Leon pursued his education at Ricks College and subsequently BYU, earning a degree in Business.

His educational journey paved the way for a distinguished career in banking and finance, primarily within the mortgage industry. Leon was a consummate professional, adept at forging connections and assisting others in achieving their aspirations. Known for his infectious smile and penchant for sharing sweets, he left an indelible mark on the mortgage banking sector. After retiring, Leon found joy in imparting knowledge as a faculty member at Stevens-Henager College, where he taught accounting and finance. He cherished the opportunity to mentor students, sharing his wealth of experience and insights.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Leon had a passion for music, photography, movies, and do-it-yourself projects. A skilled craftsman, he possessed an extensive collection of tools and was always eager to lend a helping hand or share a good deal. His generous spirit touched countless lives, leaving a legacy defined by love, faith, and kindness.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sanna Weeks, and his sister, Carol. He is survived by his cherished children, Jared (Alisa), Jennifer (Shane), Heather (Bryce), Isaac, and Nathan (Marissa); his sisters, Marcia and Rita; and numerous other relatives and friends who held a special place in his heart.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah.
