On January 2, 2021 we lost our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Vince married his high school sweetheart, Cherise Neilson, on June 29, 1991, and together they had four beautiful children. She has been such an exemplar of patience, kindness and unconditional love. Vince always said that his children’s good solely came from their mother. He loved her so much and never had a bad thing to say about her. Vince was most proud of his four children and watching them grow into the people they are today. He was filled with pride and emotion watching each one fulfil their passions and achievements.

Vince fought hard to achieve his goals and was very passionate and determined about many things. He had a love for racing motorcycles from a young age and passed on that love to his son. Through hard work and determination, he taught himself how to ride and fix motorcycles which led to his lifelong passion. His proudest moment was when he earned the #1 Gold plate from the Utah Sportsman Rider Association in 1995. This was comprised of disciplines in Motocross, Flat Track and Desert racing. He was always willing and eager to help or teach a fellow rider.

Vince had a special quality for helping others. He wanted to help anyone and everyone that he could. He was generous, thoughtful and kind. He had the biggest heart and always tried to help the downtrodden, the lonely and anyone who was down on their luck. He was always conscious to include others.

Vince had the best sense of humor and was always making other people laugh and had no problem laughing at himself. His siblings have very fond memories from when they were growing up. He always wanted to include them in his passions, and they benefited from his example.

He is so dearly loved, and words cannot express how grateful we are for the time we had with him. He will be forever missed.

We love you Vince, and we will see you at the finish line!

Vince is survived by Cherise, his loving wife of 29 years; his children, Marisa, Lauryn, Corbin and Corinne Lucero; Parents, Dennis and Barbara Lucero; Siblings, Loni (Jason) Erickson, Nelson (Jaime) Lucero, Monica (Brodee) Burt, Denean Lucero, and Rita (Rob) Edmunds.

Vince is preceded in death by Olaf Kim Lay, Evelyn Munson Lay, Mardo Lucero, Louisa Ruybal Paddock, Mardo Lucero Jr., Joshua Salazar, Richard Neilson, and Jason Lay.

A viewing for Vince will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. Vince was a great person, and has a great family. We spent many weekends at the races together, and have lifetime memories that include Vince. My best wishes to the entire Lucero family during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
