Veniamin Goldfarb, 78, of Izhevsk, Russia, passed away on November 12, 2019 in Midvale, Utah.

Veniamin Goldfarb was born in Izhevsk, Russia to Iosif and Esfir Goldfarb on February 1, 1941.

He married Sara Chernik on November 6, 1963 in Izhevsk, Russia. He graduated from Izhevsk Technical University in 1962 with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He completed his PhD in Technical Sciences in 1969, as well as a Doctor of Science degree in 1986.

He was an internationally recognized expert in the field of mechanical

engineering, working as a Scientist, Professor, Director of the Institute of Mechanics at Izhevsk Technical University, and was the Vice-President of the International Federation for Theory of Machines and Mechanisms. Hewas also the Chief Editor of the international journal “Gearing and Transmissions.” Veniamin Goldfarb was awarded the “Honorable Scientist of Russia” and “Honorable Scientist of Udmurtia” medals, and received various other high honors and recognitions. He was inducted into the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences as an Academician, authored over 400 scientific papers, a dozen books, and registered 25 patents. He mentored 16 Doctors of Science, and 38 PhD graduates. In 2003 he became a resident of Utah, where he continued his research.

Aside from his career accomplishments, Veniamin was an avid jazz musician and stage performer.

Veniamin is preceded in death by his wife Sara Goldfarb. He is survived by his daughters Olga and Irina, his sister Tatiana, his grandchildren Katya, Dina, Alex, Anya, Sonya, Levi, Benjamin, and Lazar.
