Thomas Reese Dubach, beloved father and grandfather was born December 22, 1946 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ferris Dubach Sr. and Marjorie Dubach. Tom was the fifth of nine children, as he would say, the exact middle child. He grew up in Salt Lake City before moving to Mt. Pleasant as a teen. It was in Mt. Pleasant that Tom’s life was forever changed when he suffered a spinal cord injury at 17 years old which resulted in the quadriplegia that he would live with the remainder of his life. Tom never allowed his injury to prevent him from living a full and eventful life. Tom met the love of his life, Cheryl Wimmer while in a rehabilitation center; she happened to be his nurse. His positive and never give up attitude won the heart of Cheryl and are just a few of many examples of what made him such an amazing person. He was a man who inspired so many just by being who he was. Tom and Cheryl were married in Las Vegas and later sealed for time and all eternity on April 12, 2003. Tom and Cheryl had two children Kendra Rae and Thomas Reese Jr (TJ). Tom graduated from LDS Business College and worked as an accountant as a profession. He was a dedicated father who was ever present at his children’s activities and sports. He was active in the community serving as an advisor to UTA for disabled access to public transit and he also served as a humanitarian missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Welfare Square. Tom cherished his grandchildren and was sure to be a strong presence in their lives. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Michael and Ferris Jr. Tom is survived by his spouse Cheryl, daughter Kendra McGrath (Rodney), son TJ (Aribeth) and grandchildren Jacob and Jordan McGrath and Reese, Madelyn, Corwin, and Elise Dubach. A viewing will be held the evening of March 16th from 6-8 PM at Valley View Memorial Park 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 17th at noon at Western Hills LDS chapel 5107 S 5600 W, Kearns, UT 84118. My dad Tom was amazing man. -He was a trooper throughout his life, never letting anything get to him or get him down. My dad would always fight through with his disability. That man was a true inspiration. But behind an incredible and inspirational man is a more incredible and selfless woman his wife I took care of him. What an amazing couple.
