Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away very unexpectedly, from a heart attack, on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the age of 54.

Timothy was born February 21,1970, to Wayne Egon and Celesta Faye Winkelkotter in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone, Panama. He was born during his father's Army tour there. Due to safety concerns in Central America, he flew home to Utah with another couple, making him one of the youngest Winkelkotters to fly. He was looked after by his grandparents while the family drove home to Utah. Timothy had a charismatic presence. He was a very sweet boy, full of love, laughter, and lots of energy. He grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah. He loved nature, the outdoors, all kinds of sports, and played little league baseball and soccer while he was young. Timothy attended Granite High School and graduated in 1988. There he was on the chess and wrestling teams. In his senior year, he wanted to become a United States Marine but due to his age of 17, he needed both parents to give permission. His mom made him a deal, which she also relayed to his recruiting officer. She would allow him to enlist as long as he earned his Eagle Scout Award, which he did. Timothy joined and was proud to be a Marine and served honorably during Operation Desert Storm. He loved helping with the Marines Toys for Tots program, bringing Christmas to children in need. He had a very kind heart and was always willing to help those in need. Timothy was a Patriot through and through who loved his country very much. He was quite passionate about our freedoms and liberty! He firmly believed this country was formed under the providence of God and had a testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel. Timothy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

 After leaving the military, he became a commercial electrician and worked for Bakery Equipment Controls for the past 14 years.

Timothy met his wife Mireya in 2009, while vacationing in Belize. They nurtured their relationship over the following years, sharing a unique sense of humor with each other. Their love softened each other's hearts, helping one another to heal & grow. They were married in Belize, on December 31, 2022. Mireya’s caring love for Timothy, magnified the light in his eyes. He was happy!  

Timothy is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Winkelkotter and Faye Winkelkotter. Timothy is survived by his wife Mireya; his children Loveena, Samuel, James, and Daniel (with their mother Lynzy Roberts); Timothy’s siblings Celesta Jane (Mark) Hickman, Marjorie Jean (Kevin) Tumia, David Wayne (Sheri) Winkelkotter, John Michael Winkelkotter, Jaylynn Marie (Jake) Panter, Matthew Paul (Janelle) Winkelkotter; Mireya’s family in Belize; many nieces, nephews, and friends who love him. We will miss his tender kind heart, infectious smile, quick witted humor and his “nugz of wizdum”.

Gone home to Heavenly Father too soon, welcomed by his parents, our beloved Timothy will forever be in our hearts.

A viewing will be held on May 18, 2024, 9:00 - 9:45 am. His funeral will immediately follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at; 4113 W 6200 S, West Jordan, Utah. Interment with Military Honors will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery 6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT at 11:30 am.
