Thelma Marilyn Edginton Bennett

Sep 29, 1930 Jun 4, 2021

Thelma Marilyn Edginton Bennett, born Sept 29, 1930 returned to her Heavenly Father on June 4, 2021.

She was born in the house on 605 Hollywood Avenue in Salt Lake City where she grew up. Her early life was challenging and difficult due to her mother’s early death. She graduated from South High School but struggled with reading. In later years, she and her brother went to night school to learn to read. Though she kept quiet about her this, her family was very proud of her accomplishment.

She married Gordon Winegar Bennett on Feb 19, 1951 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 19, 1975.

She was a full time Mother and homemaker. She had many interests and activities: she loved golfing and bowling and won many tournaments and championships. Her hobbies included; ceramics, painting and sewing. She had a testimony of the gospel and served as a Primary teacher, taking her job very seriously with many hours of lesson preparation. She also spent many hours canning and especially making her world class chili sauce.

She and Gordon travelled extensively. Wherever they went, she had a knack for making friends, Marilyn’s friendliness and charm bridged the gap between cultures.

She has been preceded in death by: her husband Gordon W. Bennett, parents, Fredrick Leo Edginton and Priscella Elizebeth Bellamy, in laws, Horace and LaRue Bennett, brother-in-law, DuWayne (Gunnie) Bennett and grandson Nicholas Zurn. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children: Shirley Ann (Ralf) Czerny, Richard G. (Ann) Bennett, sister-in-law, Gunnie Lou Bennett, in laws, Glen and Norma Bennett, 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grand children.

Our family wishes thank The Ridge at Cottonwood staff and residents for their loving care and friendship to Marilyn and especially the Branch Presidency for their wonderful service. Going to church with Mom was one of her and our delights.
