Terrence “Terry” Jun Tohara (69, Hawi, Hawaii) has completed his service on earth on December 21, 2018, at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born to James Jinho and Carole Miyoko Tohara in North Kohala, Hawaii, on June 11, 1949. He first served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern Indian Mission becoming a great caregiver and storyteller. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from BYU-Hawaii focusing on Special Education, later receiving a Masters Equivalency from the University of Utah for teaching. He spent a lifetime caring for his brethren with special needs and stayed a faithful member of his Church, later serving in his LDS Kohala Ward while caring for his mother there. He remains a treasured patriarch, husband, father, son, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend who will be greatly missed. For those who would share in celebrating his life, a funeral service will be held on January 19, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kohala Ward Chapel located at 55-524 Hawi Road, Hawi, Hawaii 96719. Visitation will start at 9:00 am, the funeral service will begin at 10:25 am. A memorial service will also be held on January 26, 2019, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the LDS Lakeview 8th Ward Chapel located I love you, a bushel and a peck

He is proceeded in death by his father, James Jinho Tohara of Hawi, HI; and survived by his mother, Carole Miyoko Tohara of Hawi, HI; wife, Judy Tohara of Hawi, HI; sons, Keli (Christy) Tohara of Eagle Mountain, UT, and Ryan Tohara of Salt Lake City, UT; daughters, Ruth (David) Mullins of Orem, UT, Naomi (Nicholas) Masina of South Jordan, UT, Emma Tohara of Provo, UT, Catherine (Sione) Fonohema of Pleasant Grove, UT; brothers, Ryan Tohara of Makiki, Oahu, HI, John (Kayce) Tohara of Hurricane, UT, Marshall (Linda) Tohara of Kailua-Kona, HI; sister, Shari (Paul) Tohara of Ahualoa, HI; 15 grandchildren; several Hanai children; nieces, nephews and cousins.
