Our beloved matriarch, Tereisa M. Gallegos, joined her husband, José S. Gallegos, on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 84. Born May 15, 1937 in El Rito, New Mexico, she married her Corazón on April 22, 1957. They were married 58 years and gave the world to six daughters, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Tereisa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Known for a welcoming spirit, giving heart, and good humor, Tereisa wove strong family ties and forged long-lasting friendships wherever she went. She enjoyed many friends at Sorenson Research/Abbott Critical Care Systems and Deseret Medical where she proudly worked until retirement at the age of 62.

Dedicated to her faith, Tereisa actively supported her local Catholic community and demonstrated the virtues of diligence, kindness, and unconditional love. Mom lived a life close to God, teaching her children to always put God and family first.

Tereisa loved tending her flower garden and occasional trips to Wendover with family and friends. She visited loved ones no matter the distance and always had a blanket hand-made for a new baby. Her husband, family, and friends enjoyed unforgettable chile verde and rice pudding. Grandkids could count on leaving Grandma’s with a full belly and biscochitos for later.

If her overflowing voicemail is anything to go by, Tereisa will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. We will never forget her voice and laughter.

Our sincere gratitude to the medical care workers who helped us through this difficult journey.

Tereisa is survived by her daughters Lillian (Isaac) Burks, Doreen (Victor) Lopez, Rosalie (Bradley) Carter, Judy Gallegos, Elvera Lipschutz, Precilla (Robert) Aviles, stepson Tony Gallegos, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving spouse.

Oh my sis, I miss you! But am looking forward to that 'familia' reunion in our heavenly home.

Thank you for the example you set, for being an inspiration to me, you were a great sister and a loving tia to my sons and grandsons. Our family was blessed in so many ways. Always the giving and loving person. You raised a beautiful family, I am so proud of my nieces.

Rest in peace and enjoy the wonderful place our Heavenly Father prepared for you.
