Susan S. Napier died on the morning of August 11, 2026, from illnesses linked to COPD. She was a great sister, loving mother, doting grandmother, and proud great-grandmother.

Sue was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Christmas Eve, 1945, to Louis & Lillian Silver. Upon graduating from Olympus High School, she married her junior high sweetheart, Richard W. Roberts, in 1966, and the pair later moved to Murray, Utah to raise a family. Their house boasted a large garden where she grew rows upon rows of tomato plants, producing bountiful harvests each year to share with friends and neighbors. Her green thumb transformed the yard, and she was likely the only person on the planet who craved to pull weeds.

A talented cook, Sue delighted her family with rich, tasty meals. Her killer potato salad was a renowned favorite at many barbecues and gatherings that she loved to attend.

She adored children and enjoyed teaching preschool for many years during the eighties and nineties at Bell Canyon Learning Center in Sandy, Utah, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Sue.”

After a divorce, Sue married Thomas R. Napier in 1988. He shared her love of the outdoors, and the two spent numerous weekends traversing the beautiful Rocky Mountain West in their motorhome, camping and fishing along the way with family and friends.

Good bargains brought the biggest smiles to Sue’s face, and hunting for treasure at garage sales and thrift stores really got her heart pumping. When daughter Heidi taught her how to sell the “good finds” for a profit online, the quick study became a successful auction wizard, operating under the handle: “Susies Shoesies”. While sifting through many, many bins of thrift store shoes alongside fellow shopper Karen Park, the two formed a very tight bond, eventually becoming inseparable friends.

Sue’s health declined late in life, but her spirit never waned. She loved spending time with her kids; she loved to laugh; she loved to watch orangutan videos on the internet; and everyone loved to laugh with her. She will be truly missed.

Survivors include brother James Silver; sons Rick L. Roberts and Toby L. Roberts; daughters-in-law Charisse Roberts and Azra Roberts; son-in-law Mike Khoroujnikov; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, Louis H. Silver and Lillian S. Kinsman; brother Robert Silver; sisters Lillian JoAnn Druce and Marilyn M. Druce; first husband, Richard W. Roberts; second husband, Thomas R. Napier; daughter, Heidi S. Khoroujnikova; grandson, Skylar Wing; and beloved furry companion, Josie.

Extreme gratitude to the caring staff of Aspen Ridge Hospice for providing excellent care to Sue and her family near the end of her life.

Viewings will be held Friday, August 21 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday, August 22 from 9 am to 10:45 am at the Memorial Murray Mortuary (5850 South 900 East, Murray, UT 84121). A graveside service will take place from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Murray City Cemetery (5490 South Vine Street, Murray, UT 84107).
