Sukanaivalu Faiga passed away Monday October 19, 2026 in St. George, Utah, following a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Suka was born August 19, 1977 in Lomaloma, Fiji, to Loraini Tupoutua and Epeli Mata. He grew up playing with his siblings and cousins on the family property. Suka became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a young teen, and his devotion to Christ became something he was known for.
Suka served a church mission in Fiji, after which he began working toward his lifelong goal of becoming a teacher. He was proud to have attended both BYU-Hawaii and BYU, graduating from the latter in April of 2008 in Mathematics Education. He became a highly-certified high school math teacher and had been working towards earning his Master's Degree.
This was Suka's seventh year at Water Canyon High School. He loved his job. Even on days he easily could have stayed home sick, he simply didn't want to. He loved going to work, and he loved his co-workers and students. He found great fulfillment and many wonderful friendships through his work.
Suka met Brittany Reynolds while he was attending BYU-Hawaii. They married and were sealed for time and all eternity on January 22, 2005 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, Utah. In February 2006, they welcomed Epeli Wallace, and three years later, Loraini Josifine. Nothing brought Suka as much joy and pride as his children. It has become a running family joke that when they were younger, as soon as Suka got home from work, he'd grab the kids and take off to go for a walk around the neighborhood or to the park.
Suka held various church callings over the years, and he was always the first to show up when the church needed cleaning, or someone needed help moving. He genuinely loved to serve others in any capacity.
Suka is survived by Brittany, Peli and Raini, La Verkin, Utah; siblings Salote, lliesa and Jioji, Fiji; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loraini Tupoutua and Epeli Mata.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24th at 10am, at the LDS Stake Center located at 481 N. Main St., La Verkin, Utah. Friends may call Friday, October 23rd between 5pm and 7pm at the LDS Stake Center, 481 N. Main St., La Verkin, Utah, or Saturday 8:30-9:30am at the same location.
