Strand passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 72. Strand was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to John O. and Beverly P. Speck. He married ilene H. Buxton on January 28, 1998 in Poipu, Hawaii. They lived in Sandy, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada and recently, Duck Creek Village, Utah. Strand was a General Contractor and quality builder with many subdivisions in both Utah and Nevada. He enjoyed 4-wheeling with his Jeep in Moab, Montana, Las Vegas and most recently in Duck Creek, Utah. He, also, loved boating in Lake Powell, Lake Mead and the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. He is survived by his wife, ilene, stepchildren Scott (Kathy) Buxton, Emilee (Todd) Prescia, and Daniel (Patrice) Buxton. Step grandchildren Karessa (Brad) Christensen, Cierra (Joe) Balsamo, Courtney Perry, Preston (Melany) Prescia and Gianna Prescia. Siblings Sanford (Sandra) Speck, Nila (Jim) Reidy and Celeste (Tim) Skinner. Also many nieces, nephews and step great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, step son Kenneth Buxton, and fur babies, Kitten, Stormy, Lani, Keiki, and his favorite Zeke.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 30, 2023 from 2:00 p.m-4:00 p.m. at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Light refreshments will be served.

In lieu of flowers, Strand would prefer that you donate to your favorite animal charity.
