She lived most of her life in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School and attended cosmetology school.

In January 1957, she met Richard on a blind date arranged by friends to a movie called, “The Wrong Man”, —but he wasn’t. When Richard returned from two years active duty in the Navy they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple by Harold B. Lee on August 12, 1960.

Richard and Shirley were blessed with four children: Michael, Kelly, Sharon, and Kevin. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, and a disciple of Christ serving in various church callings throughout her life. Shirley was a service oriented individual frequently opening her heart and home to those in need. She had a knack for making all people she encountered feel like family. Shirley was the heart of her home bringing her family together often. She was a fierce advocate for people in need.

Shirley loved to have fun and enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games with friends, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a self-described “Disney-Freak”.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Sara Frances Nelson (Stock), father, John William Malmborg, and brother, Jack Malmborg (Lorna). She is survived by her husband, Richard Greenhalgh, brother, Donald Malmborg (Dorothy), her children: Michael Greenhalgh, Kelly Greenhalgh Stanford, Sharon Greenhalgh Smith (Richard), Kevin Greenhalgh (Amy), her 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
