Shirley D. Bennion Burr

Shirley D. Burr, age 93, passed away on August 23, 2021. She was born on January 24, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Firth and Mabel Armitage. She married Lowell A. Bennion on July 9, 1948; later Jack Burr.

Shirley had a quick, funny wit that everyone loved. She loved scrapbooking and chocolate and walking with her friends. Her passion was gardening and her yard was beautiful. Shirley was a lunch lady for 20 years at David Gourley Elementary. She was a loving care giver to her 2 husbands and mother. She also lived with and took care of her sister Patsy for four months after a difficult surgery. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by her sons Kevin (Ellen) Bennion, Cory (Patti) Bennion; 16 grandkids, 17 great-grandkids, brother Jim Armitage, sister Patsy Baldwin, daughter-in-law Dorothy Bennion, son-in-law Allen (Sandy) Luker, sister-in-law Connie Armitage, and brother-in-law Barton (Marlene) Bennion.

She is preceded in death by her husbands Lowell Bennion and Jack Burr, sons Lowell Jr., Lyle, and Jan Bennion, daughter Joyce Luker, parents, and siblings Joyce Frogner, Kay Armitage, and Roy Armitage; and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:45 AM at the Kearns 16th Ward, 4300 West 4715 South, Kearns, UT. A funeral service is to follow at 12:00 PM with interment taking place at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East, Sandy, UT.

Social distancing will be enforced – masks are optional.
