Sherri Burton Ann

Feb 18, 1961 Feb 9, 2022

Our beloved Sherri Ann Burton, 60, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Sherri was born to Herbert Self Burton and Florence May Schmidt on February 18, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sherri was a respected and devoted school teacher, in Orem, Utah, for 35 years. She had a nurturing influence upon thousands of elementary school children. She literally taught several generations of Northridge Nighthawks. Miss Burton would always remind her students that “You can do hard things” and “Smile when you look in the mirror – you are wonderful!” Sherri was also a great mentor and leader for many teachers that are now blessing the lives of students everywhere.

Sherri was an exceptional cook, and her culinary creations were usually gifts for others, rather than something to enjoy herself. She loved to travel, watch movies, read, craft, and spend time with friends. Sherri never met a stranger and was quick to give of her time, talents, or a listening ear.

Sherri was an endowed and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and magnified every calling she had. She truly lived the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her love and service brought light to those around her.

Sherri is remembered fondly by anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. We will greatly miss her guiding light and love.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers Kay (Erika) Burton, Rick (Colleen) Burton, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Brief gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah. Following a graveside service.
