Sharon Coleman

Jul 24, 1942 Jun 21, 2026

Sharon Coleman passed away on June 21, 2026, in St. George, Utah, with her daughter Melanie by her side. Born July 24, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Sharon was the eldest of four children of Harvey and Beth Florence (later Larsen). She loved that her birthday fell on Pioneer Day and carried that joy for celebrations throughout her life.

Sharon graduated from Granite High School and married Jerald Taylor in 1961, and together they welcomed two children. She later reconnected with and married her high school sweetheart, Gary Coleman. Their lives together took them to Texas and New Jersey, where Sharon developed her love of Department 56 villages, holiday decorating, and candy making—hand dipped chocolates and homemade candies she shared generously with friends and family.

In 2004, Sharon and Gary moved to St. George to retire. Gary passed away shortly after their move, and Sharon met this loss with resilience. She went on to build a full life, embracing dance, travel, new friendships, and her signature holiday decorating, which made her home a place of warmth and celebration.

Sharon spent her final year at Sterling Court Senior Living, where she continued spreading holiday cheer. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Sterling Court, Mabel’s Angels, Enhabit Hospice, and dear friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Taylor (Brad Reber); her son, Ryan (Amy) Taylor; and her grandchildren Zachary (Natalie), Kaitlyn, and Owen.

A graveside service will be held at the Hurricane Cemetery on July 17, followed by a Celebration of Life on July 18. Cremation services are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George. Friends and family are invited to sign Sharon’s online guest book at www.spilsburymortuary.com.

She cared deeply about animals and children’s causes and supported Shriners Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the World Wildlife Fund. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor are appreciated.
