Sometimes the most wonderful people are the ones that don’t fit into boxes. Sharlyn Anderton, 66, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2021, after a long life filled with more challenges than most will ever know.

Despite her difficult challenges, Sharlyn was a light and example to all of us.

She attended Hartvigsen School for many years and loved working at the Work Activity Center. She especially loved Special Needs Primary and her Special Needs Mutual activities. Diet Coke was her beverage of choice. Getting a hamburger with mom on the weekend was her special outing.

Sharlyn is survived, and will be forever remembered by her mother, Lorraine, and identical twin sister Jolyn. She is also deeply missed by her brother, Steve (Kim), her brother Kyle, and her sister Stacie (Steve Sheehy). Many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles are lucky to have had Sharlyn in their lives.

She was met on the other side by many who loved her including her father, Don Anderton, her grandparents, her favorite aunt, Bertha Kramer, a special nephew, Tyler Sheehy, and niece Tara Sheehy, and her sister-in-law, Brandi Anderton, who all preceded her in death. All of them have been busy preparing for this reunion. Those of us remaining behind are a little jealous of the party they must be having!

The family will be eternally grateful to the staff at TKJ who loved so unconditionally and cared for Sharlyn so patiently, as well as the nurses and aides from Rocky Mountain Hospice for all of the loving care she was given over the last few years of her life.

Every child is gifted. They just unwrap their packages at different times.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 13 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the Mortuary. Internment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Work Activity Center in Utah.
