It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sean Michael Preston, a loving father, proud and dedicated Marine, and esteemed member of the Utah County Sheriff's Department. Sean departed this world on January 24th leaving behind a legacy of courage, service, and unwavering love.

Born on November 3rd, 1982 in Sunnyside, Queens, NY to proud parents Pamela & Martin, Sean grew up with a strong sense of duty and commitment. His journey led him to the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Sean's time in the Marines instilled in him the values of discipline, loyalty, and selfless service that would define his character throughout his life.

Amidst his dedication to service, Sean met and married fellow Marine, Sheryl (Sheri) Johnson, and together, they built a life and family for more than 15 years. Their collaborative efforts in establishing a home and raising their three beautiful children stand as a testament to their dedication and mutual support. Sean was a devoted father. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his three cherished children, Emmett, Kaitlyn, and Shannon. Sean's family was the center of his world, and his love for them was evident in every smile, hug, and shared moment.

Following his military service, Sean continued his commitment to public service by joining the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department. As a dedicated member of law enforcement, he tirelessly worked to ensure the safety and well-being of his community, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. Throughout his tenure at the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department, Sean's exceptional service was recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Employee of the Month Award. Additionally, he proudly served on the department's Color Guard, a role in which he solemnly paid tribute to the fallen deputies, further showcasing his commitment to honoring those who sacrificed for the safety of others.

Sean is survived by his loving mother, Pam, his devoted father, Martin, and his brother, James, as well as numerous friends, colleagues, and community members who were touched by his kindness and bravery.
