Scott was born on August 2, 1965 in Ogden, Utah the eldest son of Loyd and Mary Mortensen. Scott always said he had an idyllic childhood complete with wonderful friends and neighbors, a neighborhood swimming pool, backyard treehouse, campouts, fun youth leaders, and inspiring football coaches.

Scott also had a close relationship with his extended family and enjoyed many adventures with them. He was adored by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Scott played football for Granger High School and loved every minute of this time in his life.

He was awarded his Eagle Scout in his teens and went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints In the Arizona Phoenix mission. There he was widely excepted by the Navajo people and, in fact, was adopted into a Navajo family and given the name meaning Long Edgewater. He was very proud of this name and considered it a great honor.

Scott married Tara Rogers and together they became first-time parents to a strong, handsome son--Landon Scott Mortensen.

He later married Tiffany Johnson and Landon became a big brother to Austin Nicholas Mortensen, who is a good-looking daredevil like his dad (with the scars to prove it).

Scott, Tara and Tiffany had a great love and friendship that remained to his last day.

Scott was employed with West Jordan City for 13 years and there he met many friends including his fiancé, Stephanie Price Kay.

Scott and Steph had many adventures together including becoming dog parents to two active labrador puppies--Sophie and Sadie.

Scott was in every sense of the words a good Samaritan. He knew that true happiness comes from serving others and he was a living guardian angel to many people throughout his life; he literally saved several lives.

Wherever he was, Scott's presence filled the room. He had an extraordinary sense of humor and he accepted everyone.

Scott will be incredibly missed and is survived by his fiancé Stephanie Price Kay, sons Landon Scott Mortensen and Austin Nicholas Mortensen, mother Mary Mortensen, sister Gina Jrel, brother Corey Mortensen, sister Mandy (Matt) Biesinger, his nephews Tristan and Jaden Biesinger, many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and his "girls" --Sophie and Sadie.

Special note from Mom to Scott:

“I’ll set the timer, walk you to the door and kiss you goodbye.” ❤️

I just came across this today. Deeply saddened to hear about Scott's passing. He was a good guy. I haven't seen him since high school. Never the less, good memories of him.

I was deeply shocked seeing this on Facebook as many others did as well. I was fortunate to have graduated with Scott from Granger 1984. It's been years since I've seen him but I was friends on Facebook and was impressed that he was trying to get "healthier" in our later years of our lives. He looked good. He lost alot of weight and he seemed to have a great perspective on life. I am glad I was able to have met him in school and still remained to be friends even on social media. May he rest in peace and condolences to all he left behind. R.I.P.
