Scott C. Welling, outspoken liberal, proficient golfer, avid gardener, outdoorsman, nature lover, environmentalist and small town attorney, passed away at home Tuesday 11/12/2024 from a variety of medical issues related to myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a blood disease. “Hondo,” as he was also known by his Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brothers, had just turned 77.
An undersized overachiever and advocate for the underdog - he was, after all, a fan of the Utes, the Jazz and Cleveland Indians - he practiced law in Park City over 40 years.
He was the son of Vern Lillywhite Welling and Betty Jean Christensen. Survived by brothers Robert (Eileen) Welling, Tom (Cindy Sutter) Dowell, Spencer (Michelle) Dowell, Tad (Cheryl) Dowell and Robert (Connie) Peterson and 11 nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sister, Patricia Welling, and his faithful companion and canine companion Phibes.
A celebration-of-life for the cantankerous barrister will take place on April 12, 2025 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at The Chateau at Le Jardin located at 1910 Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, UT 84092.
