She was born on March 6, 1963, to Richard Park and Judith (“Judy”) Peterson Atkinson. She was raised in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School in 1981.

Sally was a loving mother, involved sister, and aunt who showed love to everyone. Sally was always ready to laugh and had a witty story to share. As a teenager, she loved tumbling, gymnastics, and dance. She spent many hours performing with her sisters. She spent many happy summers camping with her family. Her favorite place was Flaming Gorge where she thoroughly enjoyed hot-dogging across the lake on a slalom ski. She also enjoyed bowling, watching stock car races, and attending concerts, and really loved to watch the Thunderbirds Air Show. She worked for the United States Postal Service for almost 20 years where she made many friends. The accomplishment she was most proud of was raising her son Scott to become a wonderful man, and she was so proud of him. She was also a companion and caretaker to her mother Judy during the last several years.

She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Scott, mother Judy, siblings Barbara (Jeff) Sanders, Jeannette (Scott) Harris, Rick (Lynn) Atkinson, Dani (Bryan) DeLaney, and sister-in-law Christine; 16 nieces and nephews, and 24 great-nieces and nephews whom she lovingly referred to as "my kids.” She is preceded in death by her son Michael, father Richard, and nephew Tyler.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 12-2 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. Graveside funeral services will follow at 2 PM. Interment will follow the service at the same location.

I am so sorry to hear of Sally's passing. She was a very sweet, thoughtful and kind person. I knew her growing up in Rose Park bowling at Rancho Lanes with the Atkinson family. Later in life we worked together at St. Paul Insurance and enjoyed talking and laughing about the good old days.

May she rest in peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about Sally's passing. I knew her growing up in the same Rose Park neighborhood. I remember getting to know her better during the “YES SIR” camping trips with other kids from RP 7th. She was a sweetheart and will be greatly missed!
