Ruth Ann Powell Johnson passed peacefully from this life after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease and an accidental fall at her home on November 20, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ruth Ann was born on March 6, 1944 in Oakland, California to William Jenkins and Ruth Price Powell. She was the eldest of two children born to BiIll and Ruth. Following the end of World War II, she moved with her parents to Clifton, Idaho in 1946. Ruth Ann was raised by kind, hard working parents who instilled in her an unequaled work ethic, care and concern for her fellow beings, and unwavering loyalty to family.

Ruth Ann graduated from Westside High School in Dayton, Idaho in 1962. Following high school she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she met her sweetheart. Ruth Ann married Helmer Ray Johnson in the Logan LDS Temple on April 14, 1972. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Ruth Ann and Ray adopted two daughters, Brittany and Shelly. They taught their daughters to work hard, love deep and trust in our Heavenly Father. Their example extended to their nieces and nephews, all of whom were cherished. Mom always had a project in the works, usually two or three. No matter how many "eggs" she had in her "basket" there was always room for one more, and she served others with joy.

Ruth Ann worked for the State of Utah for many years. She began her state service working at the Legislative Library and retired from the Utah State Tax Commission. She worked for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Committee from the granting of the Games through their completion. She returned to school after retiring from the State and earned her paralegal degree from Westminster College. Her final years of employment were spent working for the LDS Church, where she finally retired for good in 2015.

Ruth Ann was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many different callings.

Ruth Ann is survived by her husband, Ray, daughters Brittany (Gary) Jones and Shelly (Jeff) Krammer, grandchildren Daniel, Tyler, Jackson, Evan, Willow, Jared and Annika. She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Suzette Bowcut Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Allan Powell, parents-in-law Helmer and Dorothy Johnson, and sisters- and brothers-in-law Vaun and Boyd Prescott and Jeanie and Howard Butterfield.

Mom was loved by and will be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Granite Tabernacle, 2005 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, Utah.
