Ronald Lynn Powell

Mar 31, 1949 Nov 7, 2020

Ronald Powell was born to Eugene and Carol Powell on March 31, 1949 in Weiser, Idaho.  He was the first born and quiet the adventurous boy.  He served in the United States Navy where he went through an Electronic program and earned a two-year degree in a year. Later in his life, he went to work for Semi-Tool and became a Robotics Engineer.

Ron Married Mary on October 23rd, 1971 in Elko Nevada.  The love of music brought them together and blessed them throughout their lives.  They made homes in Missoula, Oregon, Columbia Falls and finally Salt Lake.  Ron loves the Lord and was an active member of the Christian Life Center.

Ron contracted M.S. and he really wanted to go to work for Marshall Ski Area but it was a very physical job.  The M.S. really was crippling him.  The Lord told him to take the job and He said that He would heal him.  The first day was really rough and the second day was rough but the third day he was healed! Praise God. It really was a spiritual boost to their faith.

Ron suffered with PTSD aided with counseling from the VA for ten years.  Four major hip surgeries in complications resulting in Multi-Myeloma and Leukemia Cancer leading him to be called home November 7th, 2020 peacefully in his sleep.

He will be very missed.  To Mary, he was her everything even though he drove her crazy most of the time! One time he asked her how come he was so lenient with the kids and he told her because you gave me mercy when I didn’t deserve it.  She did overlook his faults as does our Heavenly Father.

Ron and Mary had four children - Connie Cook, Sandy Powell, and two adopted children from Afghanistan, Afsaneh and Ehsan Hosseini.  Every one of the children loved and respected him. He also had seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He enjoyed and loved all of them even though some were far away.

Ron and Connie shared a love for the outdoors - hiking in Glacier Park, fishing, and taking pictures. Connie said her Dad was very quiet and has a big heart.  She knew he cared for her even when he got upset as she soaked the house after she conquered the hose and chased him down.

Ron and Sandy loved to go skiing together.  They would race down the slopes going up and down.  When they got to the bottom, they fell down and laughed.  Sandy was so at home on the mountains but they shared many other similarities such as skiing, motorcycles and computer technology - so much like Dad.

Afsaneh is a social butterfly! Everyone loves her.  Ron and Mary quickly connected with her and healed her broken heart of losing her father. Reyyan, her 6 month old daughter would love grandpa tickling her toes and smiled when he was in the room.

Ron and Mary had 49 crazy years together!  Mary loved him with her whole heart.  Ron was very broken when she met him.  He suffered from so many issues! Mary did not know what was going on but God knew.  She also has many issues.  She was Bi-Polar, had Dyslexia and ADHD.  It was like a rocky Road ice cream.  They had to work through all their problems one by one.  The only thing that really worked was their strong commitment to Jesus!  They thank God for a lot of precious people through the years that helped them move forward toward freedom and peace.  It was very hard for Mary to let go of her husband and let God heal both of them.  To God be the Glory!
