Ron was born on March 7, 1938 to Peter E. and Helen Phibbs Hyte in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ron grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a graduate of Olympus High School. It was there that he met his sweetheart and future wife Marlene. Ron and Marlene were married 61 years ago in the Idaho Falls temple.

Together they were the proud parents of five children, four sons and a daughter. Their beautiful family grew and flourished with the addition of amazing new daughter’s in-law, son in-law, and a total of 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, bringing them great joy.

Ron worked as a diesel locomotive electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad, in Salt Lake City, Utah, for 45 years. He started as an apprentice right after graduating from high school, and worked alongside his father, Pete. The duo became admired and respected by their colleagues and were referred to as “Pete and Re-Pete”, father and son.

He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in the Netherlands, the country of his family heritage.

Ron was also a patriot. In his young married life he gave 6 years of service in the United States Army Reserve, including six months of active duty.

As a member of the LDS church he loved helping others. He held leadership positions within Ward Bishoprics, on three Stake High Councils and as a Branch President, twice. The Branch presidency service was his most enjoyable and fulfilling to him.

Ron was a loving and friendly man and always had a smile and story to share. Known for having a beautiful yard and a huge garden, his work ethics were noticeable by all.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Escalante at Coventry Assisted Living Center for their loving attention and care.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Joyce Hyte (2020). Ron is survived by his children Randal (Kathy), James (Kristy), Jeffrey (Tracie), Marianne (Freddy), and Daniel (Traci), his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his siblings Robert Hyte and Lisa Hyte.
