Robyn Carver Gilman, 63, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, and reunited with her loving husband on October 23, 2021.

Born July 11, 1958 in Salt Lake City, UT, to George Bradley Carver and Rosemary Hinkle, Robyn grew up in Holladay and graduated from Skyline High School. While managing a downtown restaurant she had an unforgettable first encounter with the new Chef, Mark Gilman, which led to a whirlwind romance; afterwhich the two wed in 1984 and spent the rest of their lives by each other's side; Robyn was with Mark when he passed from natural causes on February 10, 2021.

If you knew Robyn, then you know that she loved smiling and laughing more than anything--bringing joy and humor to even the most serious situations. The definition of generosity and selflessness, Robyn dedicated her life to being a loyal, loving and giving wife, mother, sister, and friend. A 30-year employee of the University of Utah, Robyn worked passionately to ensure that every patient received equitable, high-quality medical care. Generous to the end, she gave until there was nothing left for herself.

Robyn is survived by her only son, Dana, and daughter-in-law, Sabrina (Zug, Switzerland); her siblings: Kelly (Carver) and Scott York (SLC, UT), and Devin Carver (SLC, UT).

Family and close friends are invited to gather for an informal memorial service at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City (1342 E. 5th S.) on Friday, April 8 at 1:00 PM.

Robyn cared deeply for the countless cats and dogs she rescued in her life so please consider--rather than flowers--a donation in her name to the Humane Society of Utah and/or Best Friends Animal Society.
