Robert Lyle Simmons returned to his heavenly home November 28, 2022 due to complications during heart surgery. Robert was born October 31, 1978 to Janice and Stephen Simmons, he was the youngest of 7. For the first 5 years of his life they lived in Ucon, Idaho. Then in order to be closer to Primary Children’s Hospital and his cardiologist, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert attended Alta High School and enjoyed singing with the Madrigals. He continued to bless others with his tenor voice for the rest of his life.
Rob served in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission (97-99). He was assigned to be travel companions with Sister Cara Riley, who was also returning from her mission. They were engaged 10 days later and married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 15, 2000.
Rob studied Horticulture at Utah State University graduating in 2009.
Rob was always blessed to work in a field he loved; landscaping and irrigation. He was well known for his dedication and hard work at the task at hand.
In 2014, Rob and his family moved to Queen Creek, Arizona. Rob loved the area and often told family and friends that moving to Queen Creek was one of the best things they ever did.
Rob was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings including high councilor, bishopric councilor, Elders Quorum president, Young Men’s President, Ward Missionary, but his favorite was substituting as the singing time chorister. He loved talking to everyone, he was nicknamed the Ward Wikipedia because he knew everything about everyone. He never missed an opportunity to meet someone new and make them feel welcome. Rob took to heart the golden rule and performed countless acts of service, many without anyone knowing. He was the first to show up and the last to leave, wanting nothing in return.
His service to others was only exceeded by his love and service to his family. Nothing in this life brought Rob more pride and greater joy than his five sons and his wife Cara.
Rob is survived by his wife, Cara Riley Simmons, and his sons; Riley (Tabby), Parker, Jackson, Logan and Clayton. His parents, Stephen and Janice Simmons. His siblings Michele (Marvin) Law, Scott (Kim) Simmons, Patrice (Troy) Williams, Kathie (Burt) Lowry, Hollie (Alan) Miller, Sara (Brad) Rogers, as well as many friends who were pretty much family. He will be missed beyond measure, until we meet again.
