Robert Dal Marx

Sep 10, 1941 Oct 26, 2023

We announce with deep sorrow yet with a profound appreciation for a life richly lived, the passing of Robert Dal Marx on October 26, 2023, in Quartzsite, Arizona, at the age of 82. Born on September 10, 1941, in Gunnison, Utah, Robert was the youngest child of Ervin Edgar Marx and Edna Anderson Marx. He was the beloved brother to Carol Trousdale, Reva Wadsworth, Dixie Olson, Sharon Thorup, Ronald Marx, Carma Gunnerson, Gary Marx, and Deloris Yates, the latter of whom survives him.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and selfless service. He is remembered by his first wife, Patricia Mortensen Gracey, and their children, Radley Marx, Robert (Michelle) Marx, and Jeremy (Heather) Marx. He is also survived by his cherished wife, Andrea Lee Marx, and her children, Wade (Steffanie) Tuft, Chris Tuft (Stefanie Barnes), Robyn Tuft, Gerrit (Krystal) Tuft, Charity Wilcox (Jason Job), and Brooke (Alex) Quinn, and their families, who embraced him as their own. Additionally, his 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren brought immense joy and enrichment to his life.

A proud alumnus of the University of Utah (and prouder fan of BYU football), Robert earned his MBA and dedicated himself to a life of service and education. He was a distinguished flight instructor in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. His dedication to education was further demonstrated through over 20 years of teaching middle school math in the Jordan School District.

An ardent traveler, Robert captured the beauty of the world through his photography and sketches. He enjoyed model building and cherished moments spent with family. His devout faith was the cornerstone of his life. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he fulfilled many roles, including serving in the Sweden Mission and later alongside his wife in the Micronesia Guam Mission.

The family will receive friends during a viewing on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 6-8 pm MST at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 6, at the Indian Ridge Ward meeting house, 9636 South 1700 East, Sandy, Utah, with a viewing at 10 am and services at 11 am. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
