Apr 8, 1951 Apr 21, 2026

Robert Joseph Veliz Jr., 75, of Sunset, Utah, graduated to his next estate on April 21, 2026, in Sunset, Utah.

Bob was born on April 8, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Robert Joseph and Virginia Louise (Rhodes) Veliz.

Bob joined the United States Air Force in June of 1972. After twenty years of distinguished service, he retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

In July of 1973, Bob married Kathleen Jo Ferdon in Sunset, Utah. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, their marriage was later solemnized for time and eternity at the Brigham City Temple in Brigham City, Utah. At the time of Bob’s passing, they were approaching their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Following his military retirement, Bob worked in various security positions—work he loved most.

Bob could make friends wherever he went. In his younger years, he loved to fish, and his uncle would take him deep sea fishing in Virginia. He also loved playing baseball and football, and enjoyed golfing.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Jo Ferdon; one son, Robert Joseph Veliz III (Shasta) of Ogden, Utah; one daughter, Kellie Jo Veliz of Sunset, Utah; two grandsons, William Joseph Veliz-Cox of Denton, Maryland, and Hunter Hill Veliz of Sunset, Utah; three sisters, Sara Anne Bouchard of Chesapeake, Virginia, Susan Moberg of Aurora, Illinois, and Linda Antill of Overton, Nevada; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, R.B. Collins; his step-mother, Georgie Sue Parsley; and his in-laws, Herbert and Almerta (Felton) Ferdon.

At Bob’s request, there will be no memorial service. On May 1, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., he will be remembered and honored for his service with full military honors.

Bob’s wife, Kathy, would like to thank all her friends and family for the love and support they have shown during this time.

The family would also like to thank Lindquist Mortuary for their service.
