Robert Frank Fowler, 91, passed away on December 31, 2023.
Born to Elizabeth Eatough Fowler Hone and Frances J.S. Fowler on December 25, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fittingly, as a Christmas baby, Christmas was his favorite holiday and he took great pride in decorating, family gatherings and celebrating this day.
After Bob graduated from West High School, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Guam. He returned to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah, where he received his BS in Mathematics. He worked for various companies in the aerospace industry,
eventually retiring from E-Systems Montek Division.
Bob married VJ Montanye, with whom he had five daughters. They divorced and he later married Deloris Dorene Peterson, whom he was married to for almost 50 years, From late-night dancing (and they were fabulous dancers), spontaneous and frequent cook-out dinners in Little Cottonwood Canyon, simple evening strolls, University of Utah football games, traveling (especially to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico), spontaneous Sunday drives, and working together in the yard to create flower beds that were remarkable. Their life together was magical.
Bob will be remembered first as a family man. For his sense of humor, he always had a joke to tell. For his sing-alongs in the car. Bob was athletic and loved sports, whether it was tennis, swimming, golfing, bowling or hunting with bow and arrows. He definitely had a child like fun side, like raking up leaves into a pile just to spread them over the yard with leaf fights with his daughters or cruising down the I street in his firebird convertible with his daughters standing on the back seat (eh, things were different in the ‘60’s).
Robert Fowler is survived by five daughters Paula (Charles) Fowler-Paurley, Kalispell, MT; Barabra (Mike) Fowler Johnson, Newport, KY; Stacey Montalvo, West Jordan; Stephanie Hoggan, Holladay; Blythe (Dan) Fowler-Ball, Pecos, NM and stepson Russell Peterson, New York City,12 grandchildren, Amiee Palmatier, Robert Palmatier, John (Jen) Hicks, Michael Hicks, Teresa (Justina) Martinez, Ben Holt, Wes Fowler-Johnson, Tilynn Montalvo, Shawntel Montalvo, Chrissy (Dalton) Halverson, Alexis Hoggan, Markie Hoggan; 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Bob was preceded in by death by his wife Deloris Fowler, his mother, Elizabeth Eatough Fowler Hone, Step Father Jesse Boyd Hone, his five sisters Betty Anne Sybrowsky, Barbara Hendry, Mardell Mickelson, Maureen Hone, and Patricia Mills, and his step-son Stephen Peterson.
