Robert Lester Brown, 79, passed away on December 18, 2023, in Mesquite, Nevada.

Born January 12, 1944, in Salina, Utah, to Garnell & Dorothy Gleave Brown. Bob grew up in Koosheram, Utah, and at the age of 11 he lost his father. At that time, the family moved to Richfield, Utah, where he worked for his Grandpa Brown at the Richfield Livestock Auction.

As a teenager, he attended Murray High School where he was captain of the Spartans football team. Graduating with the class of 1962, his next six years were spent in the National Guard where he was highly regarded as an expert marksman.

On February 3, 1978, he married the love of his life and best friend, Marsha Green. They were married for 45 years.

Bob worked at Kennecott silver refinery for 37 years, where he made foreman and was highly respected by all. His work ethic was second to none. He also took a lot of pride in working for Tooele City, a job he loved.

When he wasn’t working, he was holed up at his cabin at Strawberry Reservoir where he fished all the time with his best buddy, Gary Rushton. They ended up marrying sisters, which gave them endless topics of conversation. Together they helped make Anheuser-Busch what it is today while trolling at the Westerner, where they met the catch of their lives.

When you think about Dad, he was the best. He could teach you damn near anything, and when he taught you something, you knew it was his very best. He was a perfectionist about everything, especially being the perfect Dad. He always let you know he was there for you, no matter what it was, and he always made you feel loved.

His grandson, Paden, said, “That was the thing about grandpa, if you were lucky enough to have known him, then you just knew; you knew what kind of man he was, and you knew that there just aren’t many people like this in this world. We were all so lucky to have had him in our lives. Grandpa’s word meant everything to him.”

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Garnell, Dorothy & Chuck Shedden, brother, Sam Brown, sister, Flora Jean Garcia, and grandson, James Robert (Bobby) Montague.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Brown of Mesquite, Nevada, children, Michelle Farnsworth, Kelly Bess, Justin Brown, Penny Shields, Julie Brown, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Schwampe, and brothers, Ross Shedden & Michael Shedden.

Bob will be laid to rest in the Koosharem City Cemetery, Koosharem, Utah.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.
