Rita Marie Benoit Kroon

Taylorsville, Utah - Rita Marie Benoit Kroon, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great­ grandmother passed away on August 25, 2020 from Alzheimer's at the age of 82.

Born September 10, 1937 in Denver, Colorado, her parents, Jack and Edna Merchant, raised her in the Pacific Northwest, where she graduated from Columbia High School in Richland, Washington in 1955. She would meet a young soldier serving in the Army that same year, Duane Kroon, and they married December 31, 1955, eventually relocating to his home state of Utah to raise their family.

Marie worked for a number of years at Hercules/ATK, retiring with several awards for her work as a Quality Control Specialist. She was an exemplary employee, who loved her job and the colleagues she worked with.

An avid golfer, who enjoyed the sport with her many friends, Marie also loved working in her yard, reading, and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was happiest when her family was near and, second only to her children and grandchildren, her greatest joys were her Yorkies, "Baby" and "Maggie".

She is survived by her three children, Debbie (Scott) Isaac, Kelly (Shawn) Kroon, Kristy (Eric) Coon. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister Sharon Bongio and many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Duane and her beloved son Michael Duane.

Marie was immensely proud of her family and leaves nothing but beautiful memories.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:00 am at Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah.
