Richard “Scott” Buresh

Jan 30, 1962 Aug 22, 2023

It is with joy that we celebrate the life of Richard “Scott” Buresh who passed away August, 22, 2023 at Provo Regional Hospital from illness and heart failure. Scott won Cindy Peters’ heart at a dance and came courting! They were married and sealed for time and eternity, April 21, 2005 in the Jordan River Temple.

“Scott” was born in Cedar Rapids, IA to Judy Matthews (Carr) and Richard Edwin Buresh on January 30, 1962.

He had a deep love for God and was a worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was always a fiercely loyal friend and had a deep love for his family. His greatest joy came from being Cindy’s husband and Mike, Levi and Annie’s dad.

Scott was truly adventurous! An outdoor guy, he loved to do the unusual. In High School he was called “Jeremiah Johnson” because you could frequently find him fishing, hunting and/or trapping. His love for “talking religion” and “politics” at times drove everyone “a little crazy”!

He found hours of peace working in his massive backyard garden. Who else enthusiastically plants 20+ varieties of tomatoes and other mysterious vegetables (not “weed”! - shame on you for thinking that!) Rock-hunting and polishing were some of his passions. Scott loved cats! It is impossible to count the number of cats he owned over the years.

A connoisseur of meats (including “road kill”) he loved cooking and leaving the kitchen “wiped- out” for someone else to clean. He made the best fried potato stir fry you ever tasted!

We will miss his laugh, and fun, outgoing, fearless, joyful, full of life personality. Oh… and he was also proud of his hair, and height of 6’ 3” or 6’ 4” in his boots!

Scott is survived by his wife Cindy Buresh, their children: Richard “Levi” Buresh, Crystal Annistin “Annie" Buresh and Michael Scott Buresh (Kiley). Grandchildren; Edwin, Samantha, Matthew and Madison Buresh. He is also survived by his mother Judy Car, brother Randy (Rachel) Buresh, Barbie Hammons (sister), Chris (Juliette) Eichner (brother), a large group of extended family and friends.

Heaven is brighter today as we know he is making new stories to tell, as we also make new stories here to share on that glorious day when we are together again. We love and miss you Scott.
