Richard Harry Loader

Nov 21, 1943 Jan 22, 2023

Our treasured husband, father, grandpa, and friend, Richard Harry Loader (79) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023. The son of Virgil and Zelma Loader and brother of John and Joan, Richard grew up in the Salt Lake area, graduating from Granite High School.

He was an accomplished athlete in football, wrestling, track, and swimming. He was always very proud that his high school football coach was Lavell Edwards. During his senior year of high school, he fell in love with Carma Lee Walker. They were married and sealed for eternity in the Logan Temple on September 5, 1962 and spent 50 years together.

Richard worked hard to provide for his family and was a valued employee at McDonald’s, Safeway, Granite Furniture, and other companies throughout the Salt Lake area. An avid outdoorsman, Richard loved hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. The family’s yearly adventures to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole are treasured memories. He loved his children and grandchildren and tried to get to every soccer, football, rugby, dance competition, and recital he could. He enjoyed boat fishing Strawberry reservoir with friends. Richard and Carma Lee cherished annual trips to Disneyland and any chance to see their children and grandchildren.

Richard retired from Granite Furniture and he and Carma Lee moved to their dream home in Star Valley, Wyoming. After Carma Lee’s passing, Richard returned to Utah in 2011. He loved to spend time with friends and family. He enjoyed playing cards at senior centers where he met and fell in love with Myrna Bruner. Richard and Myrna were married and sealed in the Jordan River Temple on May 3, 2013. Together, Myrna and Richard fulfilled life-long dreams of traveling, especially cruising to Mexico and Alaska. Myrna and her son Willie lovingly cared for Richard and brought laughter, joy, and love to the last years of his life. Richard enjoyed gardening (especially tomatoes), old movies (especially John Wayne), and watching football (especially BYU).

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Loader. Richard and Carma Lee are survived by their four children: Catherine Rolling, Rishanna (Raul) Segura, Troy (LeeAnn) Loader, and Ann Brown. Richard and Carma Lee have 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for the friends and family of Richard and Myrna will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, from 4–6 pm at 2503 West 13105 South in Riverton. The family and friends of Richard and Carma Lee will gather for a potluck luncheon on Saturday, February 4 from 2–6 pm at 79 Stillwater Drive in Saratoga Springs.
