He grew up in Sugar House, attending Highland High School where he met Nannette Burnham. They were married in 1970, enjoying 53 years of marriage and 5 children: Nichole, Holly, Dustin, Sabrina, and Tabitha. They treasure 14 grandchildren.

Dick attended the University of Utah, earning a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. Known at work as "King Richard," he had a passion for science. His son said it best, "He was a remarkable man. You may not know it, but his work impacted your life."

After 43 years in San Diego, Dick and Nannette retired to Tucson to be near family.

He loved sports, gemology, and outings. His love for travel took him across the globe. Most of all, he loved sitting around the table laughing with his family.

Richard lived life to the fullest. He passed away on February 20, 2024. There is comfort found in the knowledge that he is whole again, with his brilliant mind, passion for life, sense of humor, and love of his family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT. Friends are invited to greet his family during a visitation one hour prior to services. If you would like to watch the services online, please visit LarkinCares.com.
