Raymond J. Hernandez, age 26, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on December 26, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, Raymond grew into a kind and gentle soul whose smile brightened every room.
From his early years, Raymond was goal-oriented and deeply cherished his family, always making time for significant family holidays and events, especially those involving his beloved nieces and nephews. Family and community was so important to him. His passion for music blossomed at Skyview High School and further developed when he joined the Marching Utes at the University of Utah in 2016. Raymond graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2021.
During his time at the University of Utah, Raymond was an active member of various music groups, nurturing his love for instruments. His career in music education began with a pivotal internship in Boston, followed by a role at Providence Hall where he significantly contributed to the growth of their music programs for both middle and high school. His journey continued at Herriman High School, where he became the cherished Band Director, profoundly impacting the lives of students, staff, and the community. His time with us was short, but Raymond always expressed he was living his dream. The lives he impacted during his short time on earth will forever be changed because of him.
Raymond is survived by his mother, Rosa M. Gonzalez; sisters, Alejandra Klc (Gregory) and Karla Hernandez (Anaisa Medrano); nieces, Kailo and Aria Klc; and nephews, Emmitt, Archibald, and Lochlan Klc. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Hernandez; aunt, Ingrid Gonzalez; uncle, Hugo A. Gonzalez; and aunt, Gloria Aiello.
A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at Herriman High School on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass funeral service is scheduled at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church on Wednesday,
