Raymond Leon Clift, Sr., age 81, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2021, in West Valley City, Utah. He was born on January 19, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Francis “Bud” LaVern Clift and Dorothy Evans Yates. He married Mary Elizabeth Blue on May 28, 1961.

Ray worked at Polly Gas before serving in the military. He served in the Air Force for 4 years. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, and later stationed at Earnest Harmon Air Force Base in Newfoundland. After leaving the Air force he worked at Kennecott for 20 years then worked at Ford Truckland for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin, ATVing, fishing, bowling, wood working and target shooting.

Ray is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Raymond Leon, Jr., Carl (Shonna) Lawrence, and Edward LaVern; sister, Darlene VanCott; brother, Gary (Sherry) Clift; grandchildren, Raymond III, Torrie (Tyler) Whatcott, Rachelle (Nate) Wolff, Randy (Natalie), and Candace; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Daniel and Leslie; and his brother-in-law, Don VanCott.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123, and again on Monday, February 8, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3305 Scottsdale Drive, West Valley City, Utah 84120. Interment will take place following the service at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.

Following the State of Utah’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced. For those unable to attend the services, Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a livestreaming of the funeral service on Zoom.
