It is with heavy hearts our family announces the passing of Randall John (Randy) Holman on November 1, 2023. A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a devoted husband. He leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and love and will forever touch the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Randy was born on June 27, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Dale Ingram Holman and Dott Utah Henriksen. He married Catherine Gull in 1970 in the St George, Utah temple, sealed together for all eternity.
Randy was an example of hard work and dedication, spending his career as a certified Master Automotive Mechanic. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve. He was an active member of the Cowboy Action Shooting Club. “RJ Hoot” received many awards and recognitions for his target shooting skills.
Randy was an amazing man and father who deeply loved his family and the Lord. He served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called to the Northern Indian Mission in 1966. Service was very important to Randy. He was given many opportunities to serve through his callings in the Church, including Elders Quorum Group leaderships, Primary Teacher, member of Bishopric, and his most favorite, ward librarian. However, his greatest act of service came from his time he spent with his family. He loved his grandchildren and eagerly volunteered to spend "Oh boy!"
time with them whenever he could.
Randy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine Holman; his children, Colette (Robert) Rawlins, Patricia Holman, Lynette Holman, Scott Dale (Amy) Holman, and Kelly Dean (Kimmy) Holman, sisters Dalene (Carl) Hankins, Claudia (Bryan) Reid, and Marsha (Joe) Sherwood, his 10 amazing grandchildren, and his beautiful great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Dott Holman and his son-in-law Robert Owen Rawlins.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. and then prior to the service at 9 a.m., at the LDS Church on 6770 S. 500 E., Midvale, Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., Salt Lake City, UT, under the care of Wiscombe Memorial.

Dear Catherine and the entire Holman family ,my heart felt love and prayers go out to all of-you at this time.
Randy was wonderful friend and a great mechanic and wrench head like myself.
He will be missed by all who knew him. May the joy and knowledge that he has join our father in heaven and will be waiting joyfully to welcome each of his family members as their time comes to join him in the hereafter.
Love 💕 and prayers to all of you

Catherine,
I've just learned of this sad event and I'm truly heartbroken. Randall and I became excellent friends as we met at various Class of '65 events over the past 15 years. He was a true gentleman and a person I admired very much. I'm so sad to see him go. I thought he'd outlive me. I offer my most heartfelt condolences and comfort to you and the rest of your family. I loved Randall and will miss him a lot. RIP dear friend.

Catherine,
We are sorry for your loss. Randy and I spent many hours together during our life. He was a great guy and I will cherish the memories.

I worked with Randy 40 years ago at Cline's. It's been decades since I've spoken with him, but I can still hear his voice. A good man. An honest man. Imbued with the most ironic (and iconic) sense of humor. I'm sorry he's gone, and I'm happy for the memories. Rest in peace my friend.
The world was a better place because of Randy.
I was lucky to call him friend for three decades or more.
I remember meeting him over a difficult automotive issue others had failed on, (but didn’t fail to charge me for). Randy was dependably honest, as well as eager and knowledgeable on most any project and I always knew my cars had been examined by the best at the fairest cost imaginable.
His passion for his wife and children was always evident as was his pride when talking about his grandkids.
His dedication to his fellow man and his faith were worthy of any test.
He was one of a kind.
May his presence long be felt by his absence.
Rest In Peace my Friend.
Thanks for your friendship and help.

What can you say about a man who lived life full of happiness, family, kindness and cheer. You will be missed by many and you were loved by many in this life. You'll now be able to share in the love and spirit of Dale and Dott who I'm sure welcomed you with open arms and love. See you in the next life Uncle Randy... maybe in the next one we can share more time. Jeff Hankins
Definitely agree. Family, kindness and cheer were always demonstrated by Randy. The reunion with his parents was surely a great one! He is one of the great Uncles that I have had the privilege to love and learn from for so many wonderful years. He will missed tons and tons. Family gatherings will not be the same without him.
