Lester Wilson and Ellen LaPrele Searle.

As a young man, he and his family relocated to Provo, Utah when he was a sophomore in High School. Paul attended Provo High, graduating in 1948. It was during these formative years that he met the love of his life, Loraine, who lived just across the street. After serving a mission in the Central States, Paul married Loraine on August 29, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children.

Paul was forever devoted to Brigham Young University, where he pursued and completed his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees. He was an unwavering BYU fan, rarely missing a game.

Over the course of 40 years, Paul's career with the Church Education System led him to various locations, including Salina, Utah, San Jose, California, Provo, Utah, Ontario, Oregon, and eventually settling in St. George, Utah, where he taught at Dixie College's Institute. St. George became his home for the last 52 years. He was not only an educator but a mentor to college-aged youth, imparting his deep love for the gospel and music through choirs, notably starting the Inspiration Choir at the St. George Institute. He cherished the connections he made with former students and choir members.

Upon retirement, Paul and Loraine embarked on a three-year mission at BYU Hawaii, where they continued to teach and inspire students with their faith. Though they explored the world, Hawaii held a special place in their hearts. Paul's dedication extended beyond his family, as he faithfully served in various callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, culminating as a Stake Patriarch.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife Loraine (2020) and his son, Ron ( one year to the day before). He is survived by their children, Kathy Gardner (Dave), Ron's wife, Peggy Snow Searle, LeAnne Hoopes (Dan), Scott Searle (Jennifer Smith Searle), and Steve Searle (Tonie Crippen Searle). They have been blessed with 29 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren with more on the way.

A funeral service to honor Paul's life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Washington East Stake Center, located at 1835 S. Washington Fields Road, Washington, Utah.
