Paul "Eddie" Gittins Dunn

Oct 8, 1945 Jun 22, 2022

Almighty God has received our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather Paul Gittins Dunn into paradise on June 22, 2022. The eldest son of five to Melvin and Joyce, Paul was born on October 8, 1945 in Birmingham, England. At a tender 18 months old he emigrated with his parents to the United States of America who then settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from West High School he would soon return to his homeland to faithfully serve the Savior for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the London, England mission. Racing around the streets of the Avenues he met our dear mother Charlene Morr and was sealed to her in the Salt Lake temple on November 8, 1968. Little Jon soon arrived, but dad, a true patriot and defender of freedom was drafted into the US army and off to war during the Vietnam conflict. By the grace of God, after a blessing from Granddad, he was stationed in Germany and did not see battle, though he described leaving his newly wed and baby boy for the next year as the hardest thing he ever had to endure. Upon his return home dad went right to work and began his career as a long haul truck driver. A faithful member of the church throughout his life dad grew into a spiritual giant and devoted disciple of the Savior. He spent countless hours ministering in priesthood callings, serving the youth, hospital patients, and home teaching families. He loved and cherished his years of dedicated service in the temple and longed to be there again. Known by many as “Eddie” with his dry English sense of humor he lured many young men to priesthood meetings via his notorious full size frozen snicker bars. Though we will miss his big gap toothed smile, his long eloquent meaningful prayers and his ever increasing accumulation of model planes, trains, automobiles, American flags and the almighty eagle, we have great faith that dad was greeted by his parents and the long awaited reunion with his dear son Jonathan is now complete. Dad, sometimes quiet, was the solid anchor that provided strength and security to our home and family. His legacy will live on through his loving wife of 53 years Charlene, three surviving children Christopher, Trisha and Richard, along with their spouses and his nine grandchildren. “Dad, now as our new guardian angel, please continue to protect and watch over us. We love and miss you Dad!”

Please join us at a memorial celebration of his life on Monday, June 27, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful, UT at 5:30pm.
