Farrell married Valleen Stevens in the Manti Temple on June 1, 1951. They began their journey together in Redmond, later moving to Magna where they raised their family. Farrell and Valleen were blessed with four beautiful children. They moved to Farr West in 1998 and truly loved the people and community. They moved to Brigham City in 2018 to live by their daughter Stephanie.

Farrell grew up working on the family farm in Redmond, Utah. He was very adventurous and worked some various jobs before moving to Salt Lake where he worked at Booth Fisheries for a few years. He then found his dream job at Kennecott Copper Corporation, where he retired after working there for over 30 years.

Farrell was well known for his sense of humor and easy going attitude. He loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, being in the mountains and loved the smell of pine trees. He was the ultimate gardener and always shared his harvest with family and neighbors. He loved the many Church callings he had and gained a strong and faith-based testimony of the Gospel. Farrell truly loved being around people and hearing their stories of life. He lived his life with the attitude “Because I have been given much, I too, must give”

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren describe him as funny, kind, loving, generous, selfless, genuine, sincere, loyal, hard working, faithful, professional worrier, consumer of Hershey’s chocolate and BBQ potato chips, comforting, amazing, dependable, and spiritual. Some of his most repeated thoughts included, “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return”; “Life is like a game of cards. You take what you’re dealt and you play it out”; and “It was a lot more fun to be young”. Every visit with grandpa started with and ended with a big hug.

He had the ability to cope with and rise above adversity. His unwavering faith and trust in his Savior helped him face life with an attitude of love and understanding of what was important. He was a man of strength and humility. He took what life handed him and made the best of it using the strength of his testimony and the wisdom of his kind and loving heart. His caregiving to family through the years has been an example to us all. Friends in his Farr West Ward gave him the nickname of Dr. “J”. He was compassionate in his service to ensure he could make things easier for people he knew. He was a great supporter of all family and extended family events and helped to support a countless number of missionaries.

His daughter will always remember him as a gentle and remarkable dad who was easy to talk to. A dad who served others his entire life. She will imagine him in his sunglasses and baseball cap telling the funny stories of his life and singing the songs he loved most.

Farrell is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Storey, Brigham City; his grandsons, Cody (McKelle) Storey, West Weber; Karson (Arlene) Storey, Brigham City; Logan (Devyn) Storey, West Weber; Austin (Kathy) Storey, Farr West; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sheree Harward, Salina.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Valleen of 69 years; his children Suzann, Julee, Blake; sisters RueLeen and Gwenyth, and many brothers-and sisters-in law.

Deep gratitude is expressed for the loving caregivers of Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care and service on behalf of my dear, sweet dad.

The family will hold a private service on Friday, June 4, 2021. Burial will be at the Redmond City cemetery. The Family will hold a tribute celebration for Farrell in August when family and friends can share memories.
