For our baby, Nando.
He always knew how to balance the moment. Even as our family struggled for generations, Nando came to discover his own joy. Where our mother found a way to love and care, Nando found a way to peace.
He found his peace in quiet moments. He loved movies because he could spend hours appreciating what was. In his older years he valued any time he had with family. He loved to play board games, cook for others, start home projects and slowly finish them, and just be with his loved ones. We look back and call him the life of the party, our homeboy, and a person full of life all because he could make a moment feel like the right thing at the right time.
Orlando seized every opportunity ferociously. Graciously, he always turned to share that opportunity with others. He understood completely that life could be so cruel without a decent job, and that a decent job is just faintly out of reach for many. His purpose was to inspire others to appreciate what skills they had, to achieve something greater. In his final career move, Orlando held an esteemed position as the Senior Corporate Recruiter at Alsco Uniforms, achieving the success he dreamed of.
He enjoyed being acknowledged for his talent and contributions. We look back on Orlando now and take it a step further. We celebrate you, Nando, Orlando Toro Garcia, for the beautiful person that you always were. For the amazing child who learned to create his own joy in a cold world under any circumstance. We appreciate your life in our memories and hearts to give you the celebration that you deserve here at the end of your journey.
