LeAnn was born September 14, 1933 in Provo, Utah to Joseph Heber Clegg and Ruth Scorup. She was the second of six kids. She was raised in Vineyard and graduated from Lincoln High. She met her husband, Darrel Rushton, while he was renting a room from her parents. They were married in the Manti Temple in 1953 and were married for more than 66 years. She had 5 kids in 6 years, then decided to go back to school at BYU and get a teaching degree. Not only did she have 5 kids in 6 years, but she had one more while she was going to school full time, and took him to school with her. Wow!

She began teaching in Jordan District and the family moved to Midvale in 1966. She was a truly gifted teacher and her students loved her for it. She taught school for more than 30 years primarily in grades 1 – 3. She was a very talented pianist and began playing piano in church at 9 years old. She accompanied her husband Darrel, while he sang in many locations, played piano in large productions of the Messiah, and accompanied several large choral groups. Her love for music was a big influence for most of us to learn to play instruments. She was brilliant, and helped teach us all to read and love to read before we ever started school. She helped keep us all well rounded as we combined the arts with sports and school. She was always a very generous person and helped many people over the years.

LeAnn and Darrel raised 7 children together. She has always been an amazing mom, grandma, and great grandma. LeAnn is survived by Dave Rushton (Maureen), Julie Rushton, Jeff Rushton (Hazel), Hal Rushton (Sandy), Kent Rushton (Amy), Jay Rushton, Deb Rushton (Steve), 33 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, her sisters Arla Clegg, and DaLee James, her brother Halvor Clegg(Miriam), brother-in-law Kim (Karleen), and sister-in-law JoAnn Rushton. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrel, her son Steve, her brother Wildon, and sister Jolene Peterson, her brothers-in-law Allen Rushton, Jake Rushton, David James, and Clayton Peterson.
