St. George, UT - Norene Ranae Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the age of 89. Just 2 days later, her devoted husband of 71 years, Walter Vern Jones, joined her in eternal rest – reunited in love beyond this life.
Born on April 23, 1936, Ranae was a fun, spicy, ray of sunshine, whose vibrant personality lit up every room she entered. With a twinkle in her eye, and a warm smile, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went.
Ranae was an angel on earth and had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and made everyone feel like part of her family. Her generous spirit touched countless lives, and her presence was a true blessing to all who knew her.
A gifted singer, Ranae proudly served for 10 years in the world-renowned Tabernacle Choir, sharing her voice in sacred music was one of the great passions she had. Her time in the choir was a treasured chapter in her life – a testament to her deep faith and her desire to uplift through song.
Ranae’s love for her family was the center of her life. She is survived by two of her children: Peggy Ogzewalla and her husband, Roger, and Bruce Jones; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by two sons: Donald Jones and Eugene Jones; two grandsons: Taylor Jones, and Joseph Levie, including her husband, Walter Jones, who passed away just two days after her, a touching reflection of their deep and enduring bond.
A joint celebration of Ranae and Walt’s lives will be held on Saturday September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St George Blvd, St George, UT, 84770.
Graveside service will be held at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery at East Menan Lorenzo Hwy, Rigby, ID 83442, on Monday September 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
